The minimum score required in Pitfall II by Activision for the Atari 2600 to earn a patch was: 99,000 points. The best advice in Pitfall II is to read the manual, so that you know all of the nuances of the game. The manual gives some really good tips. Make sure both difficulty switches are set to B. Pitfall II: Lost Caverns, the sequel to the ever popular Pitfall! by Activision. You control your game in the same manner as Pitfall. Point the joystick to the right or left for your movement in that direction, and press up or down just before you climb onto a ladder. Press the button to jump. The game starts with 4000 points, and unlike its predecessor Pitfall!, there is no timer. There are other key interests in the game such as riding a balloon. You can control its movements with the direction of the joystick left and right, and up and down to increase the speed or to decrease the speed of the balloon. Much like the original this game offers similar enemy perils that you will encounter such as bats, poison frogs, albino scorpions, condors, and electric eels. There are 28 gold bars to collect and the highly sought after Stone-Aged rat. Also, there is the Raj Diamond, Pitfall Harry's niece Rhonda, and their cowardly cat Quickclaw. For a perfect score of 199,000, you must collect all of these items without falling victim to a single peril. There are deeper levels underground then in the first Pitfall, so be careful as to how many levels that you fall if that does happen. Points are subtracted if you fall, unless you land in the water. There is a red cross marker on the ground, and that would be considered your modern-day "save state". If you get hit by any of the enemies, you will be transported back to the last cross that you walked across. But please know that if you do hit one of the enemies, your points will decrease until you are brought back to that last Red Cross marker. Falling down a ladder will penalize you 100 points, if you have bad luck in this game your score will never go below zero. If you fall off of a ledge, don't worry because if you position your fall, you will land in the water below. You will not lose points. You'll just have to swim back to an overhanging ledge that you can jump on to. Also if the waves of the water splash you high enough you can grab that ladder to climb up. Also remember while swimming in the water watch out for those electric eels. The game ends when you've collected all three of these items: The Raj diamond, Quickclaw and Rhonda. To get a perfect game your score ends with a total of 199,000 points. This also requires collecting the 28 gold bars and the rat. ** Tips Making maps will help, as in many Activison titles that have multiple screens. Mapping the area will help you find the better route in the game, so that you can finish with less deductions in your score and having faced the fewest possible enemies. The minimum score required in Pitfall! by Activision for the Atari 2600 to earn a patch was: 20,000 points. The best advice in Pitfall! is to read the manual, so that you know all of the nuances of the game. Your mission is to guide Pitfall Harry through a perilous jungle and find treasures in a limited amount of time. The excitement and fun begins as soon as you start the game. The controls are quite easy. Use the joystick by pressing left or right to make Harry run in that direction. Press the button to jump. There are also ladders which you can climb by pressing up or down. To release from a swinging vine, press down. Your game begins with two men in reserve and a score of 2000 points. The timer is set at a 20 minute countdown. That is the maximum time allowed to complete the game. A perfect game is collecting all 32 treasures without losing any lives or points (114,000) and still having time on the clock when complete. Trying to get a perfect game can be tedious, as there are so many dangers in this game. If you do happen to pull off a perfect game, consider yourself one of the elite! There are 32 hidden treasures that you must find, such as 8 diamond rings, 8 gold bars, 8 silver bars, and 8 money bags. There are a total of 255 screens in the entire jungle map. Each screen traveled below ground is the equivalent of three screens on the surface. This is where map making comes into play. Learning what ladders to take and which direction to run, and how many screens that you will have to count will make you more efficient in finishing this game more quickly. There is not nearly enough time to complete the game entirely above ground. You must utilize certain valuable underground passages. This is another game where you will not receive any extra lives. The lives that you begin with are all that you have to work with, so make them count. If you do happen to lose a life, Harry will always reappear on the left side of the screen. This can work to your advantage sometimes. Nicking rolling logs or stationary logs, or falling down into holes will cause Harry to lose points from his total. If you're observant you will notice that all the rolling logs roll in the same direction from the right to the left. If you run into a campfire, a cobra, a scorpion, or fall into a swamp or quicksand you will lose a life. Timing is everything when it comes to survival in this game. Sometimes there are swinging vines that can come in handy when encountering these perils. ** TIPS For the quicksand or the tar pit you can use a "jump toward it" as it closes technique to make your completion time just that much faster and or "jump away from it" right before it opens as to make your distance further rather than trying to outrun them. Also you do not have to wait until the Croc's mouth is closed to jump across them. Just jump on the backs of their heads and continue your jumping across all 3 of them. • Oink! by Activision: Tips Tricks Hints and Strategies

    10:53 AM PST, 12/16/2017

The minimum score required in Oink! by Activision for the Atari 2600 to earn a patch was: 25,000 points. The best advice in Oink! is to read the manual, so that you know all of the nuances of the game. The manual gives some really good tips. Make sure both difficulty switches are set to B. Have you ever heard of the old story, "The Three Little Pigs"? This is Activision's rendition of that exact story. There are three styles of game play. One is you vs the computer. The second is two players taking turns vs the computer. And the third is two players - one controlling the pig and the other player controlling the wolf. The difficulty switches in this game make a huge difference in how it's played. When selecting difficulty A, the player must drop each block by walking toward where it will be dropped. In selecting difficulty B, your player can just pick up a block and press the button. The block will automatically be placed in the opening that is available. There are three colors of houses to defend. One house is for each of the three little pigs. The first being yellow since it's made of straw, the second being brown since it's made of sticks, and finally the third being red because it's made of bricks. All are actually made of bricks in the game. The color is the only noticeable difference. Your objective is to drop blocks where the wolf has blown openings in your structure. Each time the wolf huffs and puffs, his breath makes another opening appear in the base of your house. You have a row of 13 blocks stored in the upper part of your house. Use these blocks to fill in each of the openings that the wolf has created in your structure. As you use these blocks, you'll notice that there will be gaps in the area where you can grab them. These blocks will not be replaced until you have used all of the blocks that are currently shown. If you collide with the wolf's breath stream you will be temporarily frozen and then regain your movement again when you reach the base of the structure. If you are struck by his breath and pulled out of the structure through a hole created by the wolf, you will lose a life and begin again defending the next house. You earn points by each block that is dropped that fills in the openings that the wolf has made. Your reserve pigs are displayed at the top of your house in window panes. You earn points as you drop blocks into where the wolf has blown openings into your structure. Each time you use up a group of 13 blocks, the point value for each block increases, up to a maximum of 400. The speed of the wolf also increases with each consecutive block group completed. Your score is shown at the top center of the screen. ** TIPS ** This game is unforgiving and does not give you any extra lives during game play. You will have to learn how to survive by dropping the blocks almost as fast as the wolf is blowing holes in your structure. Keeping all of that in mind and having to contend with his constant streams of breath that poke through your house's openings. Notice that the wolf follows a specific pattern that you can predict and use that knowledge to avoid his stream of breath. All you need is a couple of blocks under you to prevent from being pulled out of the house if you should be hit by the wolf's breath stream. You'll notice that eventually he spends most of his time blowing his breath through the empty space that he has created. So rather than hurry recklessly, try to time your movements when he is facing in the opposite direction or is a step away from the hole that you need to cross to get the last remaining blocks to finish the round. • Megamania by Activision: Tips Tricks Hints and Strategies

    10:32 AM PST, 12/13/2017

The minimum score required in Megamania by Activision for the Atari 2600 to earn a patch was: 45,000 points. The best advice in Megamania is to read the manual, so that you know all of the nuances of the game. The manual gives some really good tips. Make sure both difficulty switches are set to B. Megamania by Activision for the Atari 2600 is one of those fast paced shooters that keeps you in the game. There are two styles of game play. One with guided missiles (B) and one with straight lined missiles (A). You also have the option to have one player or two player on each of these difficulty settings. If you choose the guided missile option it is much easier to hit the oncoming targets as you can glide from left to right and shoot them more easily. Meanwhile with straight lined missiles, a bit more timing and skill is involved with hitting the enemies. There are eight different waves of enemies that bombard you. Including radial tires, bow ties, steam irons, diamonds, hamburgers, cookies, bugs, and space dice. Each consecutive wave has its own style of attack. With this in mind you must adapt to the style of the specific enemy because it will mean the difference between losing a life or not getting hit at all. Each attacking wave scrolls off the screen. So keep in mind where you think they will reappear. This tactic will enable you to shoot them more quickly. As your game play progresses, so will the skills of each enemy. So learning how they attack or their attack pattern style is imperative in scoring higher. When you've completed an entire wave you can take a short breath before the next wave begins as your energy bar counts up your bonus score for the remaining amount of energy that you had left in reserve. Your energy bar is at the bottom middle of the screen. As you exhaust your energy it will turn from yellow to red, indicating how much energy you have left before you lose a life. You can have a maximum of up to six lives in reserve and you will gain an extra life every 10,000 points. Your extra ships appear right below your energy meter, and below your reserve ships are your point totals. **Tips Maxing the score in the game will take just over 1 hour. The max points that you can achieve is 999,999. By learning how to shoot and evade more efficiently you will survive much longer in the game. • Laser Blast by Activision: Tips Tricks Hints and Strategies

    4:23 PM PST, 12/5/2017

The minimum score required in Laser Blast by Activision for the Atari 2600 to earn a patch was: 100,000 points. There was also a special award patch for the max score of 1,000,000. The best advice in Laser Blast is to read the manual, so that you know all of the nuances of the game. The manual gives some really good tips. Make sure both difficulty switches are set to B. Get used to the repetitiveness of this game. Although modernistic for its time, with the glow of the Laser Blast itself, and the sound of the laser coming your way, this game was a wonder to see, watch and play. Laser Blast was possibly the first home video game shooter where the enemy was on the ground and the player was in the air. Laser Blast by Activision is pretty straight forward -- shoot the enemy or be shot. The targets are in multiples of three. You can form your own style or pattern of shooting. But it all depends on which is easier, as it is the endurance that will do you in. That and the cramping of your hand from holding your controller rigidly as the seemingly endless line of targets reappear. You move the controller left or right to aim at the targets on the ground before they hit you. To raise and lower your ship you push the joystick forward or pull it back. In later rounds of the game, you cannot lower your ship. It becomes restricted to the highest level on the screen. Although there are four different levels of game play, the game plays essentially the same. Game variation 1 is the slowest. Game variation 4 is the fastest. When you are good enough, select game 4 to score a quick million points in approximately 1.5 hours. Your score is represented in the upper left side of your screen. You gain points for shooting all the targets below and as your levels increase so does the point value of the targets. You gain an extra ship at each 1000 points you score, with a maximum number of six in reserve. Don't stay in one place too long as your chances of being hit increase drastically. And if you do get hit, fly your damaged ship into one of the bases below as you still can get points and destroy it. ** TIPS If you survive long enough you will be rewarded with six exclamation marks "!!!!!!" indicating that you've maxed that game at 1 million points. At one million points your game is done and you can no longer continue...You've beaten the Laser Blast game.
