Ice Hockey by Activision: Tips Tricks Hints and Strategies

The minimum score required in Ice Hockey by Activision for the Atari 2600 to earn a patch was: Beat the Computer. The best advice in Ice Hockey is to read the manual so that you know all of the nuances of the game. The manual gives some really good tips. Make sure both difficulty switches are set to B. Rather colorful for its time in usual Activions style, Ice Hockey by Activision offers a ramped-up version on a pong style of game play. Much as in regular real ice hockey, foosball, or air hockey the logic is the same, score as many goals as you can before the time runs out. There are four gaming selections to choose from. In the first you play vs the computer. The second you play vs another player, both at a regular gaming speed. There is also a faster speed variation of game play for both, where it is you against the computer or another player. To start your game play, press the reset button. After a few moments your puck will drop onto the ice and it's ShowTime. You'll have three minutes of action to score as many points or goals as you can. Your points will show up on either the upper left or right depending on which team you've selected. You take swipes at the puck by pressing the joystick button. You move left or right to swerve your puck with your stick past your opponent. You'll hear a blip sound once you've gained control of the puck. It will jiggle back and forth on your stick as you move. Depending on which side of your stick the puck is on, that is the direction the puck will travel when you release it. You can also bank shots off the rink wall to better angle your shots for scoring a goal against your opponent. There is an offensive style of game play and a defensive style of game play. This all depends on who has the puck at that time of control. You can knock your opponent off his skates by swiping your stick when you're next to him. This action will make him fall on the ice, gaining you an advantage in making a goal. You have control of the forward skater as each game starts, and as the puck gets closer to the goalie, you'll will gain control of your goalie to protect the net. You can also pass the puck between your forward and your goalie. This too will make things easier for you and more difficult for your opponent in gaining control of the puck. It is the job of the goalie to protect the net and deflect any pucks that come in his direction. Each time you score a goal you will hear a sound indicating that you've scored, and a point will be added to your gaming total.
