** NEEDLEWORK'S PLEASURE** SPINNING & FELTING FIBRES, HANDSPUN & HANDPAINTED YARNS

Here comes my latest elfyarn design - an ultra ultra ultra ultra soft and cosy merino/silk blend ,handpainted and handspun into the finest fingering weight yarn! The whopping 725yds will be more than enough to knit a large stole/shawl/long hatscarf, or to knit/crochet several smaller pieces from it. I have called this elfyarn "Gwragedd Annwn" which in Welsh means as much as "Women/Wives of the Otherworld". The yarn is displayed in my Etsy store, and here are some pics for you:

It takes me a minimum of 20 hours to finish one lot of 3.6oz of this very fine elfyarn, but it is absolutely worth the effort :o)

I will be mordanting some new Merino fingering weight yarn tomorrow and hopefully be painting half of them this week. The wool boards are still packed with wet fleeces - god, please give us some warm sunshine up here in the North!!!!!!! These fleeces would dry sooooo much faster, if the sun stayed out for just a few hours, sigh....

I had been asked several times to introduce smaller bags of mixed colours of wool roving for smaller projects, be it handspun yarns or felted creations. So I have now added 2 different colourways to my range of fibers in my Etsy store at www.alltheprettyfibers.etsy.com - I hope that people will be pleased with the colours I have chosen for the RAINBOW mix and the COUNTRY mix :o)

Yep, I'm still busy with the fleeces - sigh - I am slowly getting there...it's a lot of sorting, washing and dry spinning going on at the moment, what can I say. But as always the result and the treat of digging your hands into clean and cosy fleeces is such a reward!! And yes, I've already got loads and loads of ideas for the amount of fleeces I will keep for my painting and handspinning projects - uuuhhhh my fingers are itching!

I would like to display 3 yarn designs I had recently finished and displayed in my Etsy and my Ebay store. They have already been sold, but I thought it would still be a delight to view them here on my blog - the colourways are really great :o)

 I will soon be painting more fingering weight yarn, but for now I need to get the fleeces sorted first.

As usual I haven't got much time ...there are tons of wet fleeces flying around EVERYWHERE, and I have to get them onto the drying board quickly. But I really wanted to pop in and show you my new OOAK Bluefaced Leicester yarn that came off the drying board yesterday (thought I should get the yarn on there to dry before all the fleeces blocked it up!), I have called it "Celebrating the Season" - the shades are absolutely representing the colours of summer, especially July/August:

and I took another handspun slub yarn design off the board as well to make room for the fleeces. Here is my powerful "Boudicca II":

awesome colours, neyh? :o) I have tried to take a third picture of this yarn  with the skein opened and spread out, but my camera simply didn't catch the ruby red properly, so I left it with 2 pics in the store.

I'm just popping in to introduce my third elfyarn design to you - I have called it "Tir Nan Og", and it's another feather light and super soft merino/silk fingering weight yarn. I managed to finish it before the greasy fleeces arrived, and it came off the drying board this morning. I have displayed it in my Etsy store at www.alltheprettyfibers.etsy.com . Here come 2 new handpainted lots of pure Shetland wool, oooohh how fluffy this stuff is! I am having great fun painting this fiber, it absorbs the dye just as well as my Bluefaced Leicester or the Merino.

 I won't have much time left for the next few weeks because I have received 12 large fleeces from last month's shearing, and they all need to be washed and sorted - sigh.... Though it is a lot of fun diving into raw wool, it's also a mega load of work getting all the fleeces into their buckets, soak them, rinse them, soak them, rinse them, soak them.... yep, lots of work! But the clean fleeces will be such a delight to paint and spin!!!!

Anyway, I need to make a liiiiiittle bit of room for those fleeces, so I have put out some of my Bluefaced Leicester premium fleece for sale in my Etsy store - and it's gone already. At first I didn't really want to let go of it, it is such a beautiful fleece, and I always have tons of ideas what to do with it - but I would need to live in a mansion with at least 25 large rooms ( hahahaha!!!!) for storage, if I wanted to keep all my fibers for future projects. Just not possible.

 Yesterday I started on a new lot of handspun Bluefaced Leicester single yarn to extend my range of knitting wool in my stores, and apart from my new VERY ELEGANT elfyarns this BFL will make fantastic close to the skin soft knitwear!! Let's see how many skeins I will be able to spin and paint within the next week with all those fleeces needing to go in the bucket!!

This is my second rose-theme OOAK yarn design "Wild Rose II", which has come out exactly how I wanted it - I am sooooooo pleased with this lot :o) I am always one happy bunny when a yarn turns into what I pictured it to be before I would even paint the fibers, it is so satisfying!! "Wild Rose II" has been displayed in my Etsy store.

I hope you like the colourway of this yarn design as much as I do!

This is my second handpainted and handspun elfyarn made from my special blend of super fine Merino wool and pure Mulberry silk and heavenly soft!! I am having such a great time creating these special yarns that I will be spinning more of them in different colourways. They will come as fingering weight and sport weight yarns. Here is my "Rivendell" which I displayed in my Etsy store a couple of days ago:

I have also handpainted another bulk of extra soft Merino wool rovings, some Bluefaced Leicester tops (for myself...greedy,greedy...to spin into yarns) and also some Shetland rovings, which I have added to my shop selection of handpainted wool tops. I will be experimenting with other white wool fibers as well this summer - can never have enough colourful tops in the house, I'd say :o) Here are two of the new lot of extra soft Merino rovings, also displayed in my Etsy store:

I know, there's a good deal of lilac going on in these combed tops. That's because I am really sad that my lilac trees outside have stopped blooming. I absolutely love lilac and its scent...sooooo gorgeoussssss..... guess I will have to wait a full year now for the blossoms to return, sniff.
