Geraniums & pelargoniums are very hardy plants originating in South Africa. I the cooler climates of the northern hemisphere they are delicate plants that are grown in pots & wintered indoors. Here in Australia, we are in the lucky position to have a warm climate where geraniums & pelargoniums thrive outdoors all year round.

My geraniums are all very hardy, getting little water, yet thriving in the drought conditions we have had here in Victoria for the last 10 years. They flower prolifically in colours of white, pale to hot pink, apricot, mauve, red & dark burgundy with black stripes. Their leaves range from curly, small, & scented, to variegated to cupped.

Geraniums & Pelargoniums appreciate being pruned lightly in the autumn so that they can make new growth for a bright show of flowers. These plants are always a delight, giving flowers throughtout the year.

Snail Creeper, Paseollus caracalla, or Snail creeper Vine, is one of my favourite plants. It has very unusual flowers, being curly like a chell or a snail shell. It has many folds in the flower. It id a soft leaved plant and not invasive. It is easily trimmed from where you do not want it. I give my plant a severe trim in July/August which is winter time in southern Australia. Most of the leaves are gone by this time so it is easy to see where you want to snip the vine. When the plant is trimmed all the winter sunshine comes through our north facing window. In Australia the sunshine comes from the north. We were in China last year and found it difficult to get our bearings because their sunshine comes from the south. This beautiful vines gives us shade from the hot sun in summertime. It also gives us beautiful perfume as the bi colour flowers are scented. We wanted to enjoy the perfume so planted this near a doorway. When the door and window are opened in the evening the perfume is exquisite. This plant is rare. I would love to share a photo with you but try my site http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Snail-Creeper-Vine-15-Seeds-Fragrant-Purple-Flower-Phaseolus-caracalla-/170883523337?pt=AU_Plants_Seeds_Bulbs&hash=item27c973a309 for lots of photos and different seeds.
