What is Auctiva Shipping Insurance?

Auctiva Shipping Insurance offers great coverage at low costs. Our insurance is:

  • Affordable: Save up to 30% over USPS.
  • Convenient: Skip the long lines and forms. Cover international shipments.
  • Flexible: Cover items up to three days after the end of your auction; insure only the shipments you decide to.

How to set up Auctiva Shipping Insurance

Note: You must have a positive account balance or a valid payment method (PayPal or credit card) on file to use Auctiva Shipping Insurance. Otherwise, your listings will not be covered under the insurance, and you will have to manually purchase it.

Introduction

All Auctiva users can buy Auctiva Shipping Insurance either automatically by creating Auto-Insure Rules, or manually on a listing-by-listing basis. (Note: Insurance settings made on a listing-by-listing basis, either through the Shipping Options on the One-Page Lister or via a Listing Profile, will override Auto-Insure Rules).

What are Auto-Insure Rules?

Auto-Insure Rules allow you to automatically insure your shipments based on an item's final value. You can specify different final value thresholds for international and domestic shipments.

Instructions

Step 1. Enable Auctiva Shipping Insurance.

  • Log in to your Auctiva account.
  • Hover your mouse over the My Account tab and click the "Auctiva Shipping Ins." link to load the Auctiva Shipping Insurance Settings page.
  • Ensure that the "Enable Auctiva Shipping Insurance" box is checked (Figure 1.1), which it is by default when an Auctiva account is created. If unchecked, Auctiva Shipping Insurance will not be available for purchase, either manually or through the use of Auto-Insure Rules.
  • You can choose to use single insurance policies for combined payments of multiple transactions for domestic and/or international shipments by selecting the appropriate checkboxes.

Step 2. Select an Auto-Insure Setting.

By default, insurance policies will only be purchased for USPS shipping services. Select other shipping services for domestic and international shipments by using the drop-down boxes provided.

Our Auto-Insure feature includes two options:

  1. Selecting the "Auto-insure all sold items" option will result in the automatic purchase of shipping insurance for all your transactions except those in which you have specified insurance settings through the lister or a Listing Profile.
  2. Selecting the "Total transaction price (final value + S & H)" option will result in the automatic purchase of shipping insurance for all of your transactions that meet the price criteria you specify.

Figure 2.1.

If you select the "Total transaction price (final value + S & H)" option, you'll next need to create an Auto-Insure Rule by entering a price minimum.

  • Check the appropriate Auto-Insure setting.

Step 3. Enter contact information.

This section allows you to specify where and how you can be contacted in case of an insurance claim.

  • Full name: Enter the desired name.
  • Address Line 1: Enter the appropriate street address.
  • Address Line 2: Enter the appropriate street address.
  • City: Enter the appropriate city.
  • State: Enter the appropriate state.
  • Zip/ Postal Code: Enter your postal code.
  • Country: Enter the appropriate country.
  • Fax number: Enter the appropriate fax number.

Select the Save Settings button.

This concludes this tutorial on Auctiva Shipping Insurance. Items will now be insured according to your specifications. You can change your specifications at any time by returning to the Auctiva Shipping Insurance Settings page.
