Some search engines use meta tags to help index websites for search results. Adding meta tags can improve search rankings for your Auctiva Emporium. This tutorial will show you how to add meta tags in your Emporium.
Introduction
Meta tags are unique HTML tags that help define certain properties of an HTML document. These tags are inserted into a Web page header after the title. Buyers won't see these tags. The tags exist to tell search engine spiders information about the page so they can be properly indexed.
Instructions
Make sure to add keywords that are a good match with the content you have in your Auctiva Emporium. This will help drive high-quality traffic to your Emporium.
Step 1. Edit Meta Tags.
- Hover your mouse over the Stores tab and click on the "Meta Tags" link (Figure 1.1). The Meta Tags page will load.
- Page Title: Enter the text you want displayed in the uppermost bar of your browser. By default, this will be set to the name of your Auctiva Emporium. You can change it, if desired. Page titles are also used by search engine spiders to properly index pages.
- Keywords: Enter the keywords you want search engine spiders to index when they crawl your site. Be sure to use content-driven words and separate them with a comma.
- Description: Enter a brief description of your business. This will also appear in the meta tags and will be crawled by search engine spiders.
- Click the Update button to save your changes.
This completes the task of creating meta tags for your Auctiva Emporium.
