Hurrow I'm Tali!

My name is Ataylia (Tali for short) and I'm a 10 month old Mastiff cross Great Dane.

I've been diagnosed with hip dysplasia which has been causing my right hip to dislocate on a regular basis.  As you can imagine, it really, really hurts and makes me cry a lot.  Of course, my mummy takes me to the vet all the time and they all make a big fuss of me and know my name and everything.  But vet can't help me except for giving me medicine which makes me sleepy until my hip pops back in again.

Mum explained to me that the vet said that the only way to fix this is to have surgery - which scares me a lot.  So the vet referred my mum to a specialist in Sydney (we live in Canberra) because no-one around here can do hip replacement surgery - can you believe that???  So mum asked for a quote from the specialist and nearly fell over!  I know she doesn't want me to know how much it costs but I heard her on the phone and the vet said $7,500 - that doesn't even include getting me to Sydney and back, and the time that mum has to take off work!!!!

So the problem is that my mum can't afford it!  I know she really, really wants to get me fixed so I can be happy but when she asked the bank, they said NO!!!  Mum said it's not because they don't love me, but because they don't know me.

So Mum tried everything she could think of and went all sorts of animal helping places but they can't help, she even tried the people who make my dried food - but they wouldn't lend her the money!  Mum's really upset because she would pay someone back as soon as she could, but no-one will help which makes me very, very sad too.  All I want is a normal life so I can run around and play with my big brother Saxon and go on long, long walks.  I haven't told Mum that I'm telling everyone my story and asking for your help because I know that she's still trying to raise money by selling everything she can think of on ebay.

At this point, only 1 of my hips needs to be replaced, the other one seems to be holding up so far and might be good for a long time!  My big brother Saxon, a 6 year old German Shepherd also has hip dysplasia but is doing just fine so far.  The surgery can't be done until I'm a year old (in two months) and Mum has barely managed to raise much money yet.  Obviously, Mum's desperately trying to save.

Can you help us?  Any donation whatsoever is gratefully appreciated. Please click the donate link above.   If you want something more for your money (which would be understandable) please take a look at my Mum's auctions and please, bid generously.  Whether you donate, buy or not - thanks for your time in reading this.

Please feel free to contact my mum at any time if you have any questions - but please don't tell her about this page...
