The Bookcase has a Deeply Pronounced Cornice. The Frieze below is carved with a gorgeous Laurel Leaf Garland. Laurel Leaf Garlands also decorate the sides of the piece. The carving of a gentleman's' silhouette is known as a Romaine Medallion. There is one at the center of the Frieze, as well as in the middle of each intricately carved Panel of the Six Doors below. Each Silhouette depicts a different person. This is a striking piece of furniture! The interior is quite functional. There is a Shelf flowing across the Top Compartment. This roomy interior could store a sizable collection of books. The Bookcase/Wine Cabinet is carved with beautiful Vertical Fluting and Reeding down the Stiles which flank the Doors.
