So i've started a new ebay account for the designer label fabrics that we have, mainly the short ends and discontinued lines. It's not been too bad, but ebay seems to have got a lot more requirements now for sellers - fill in these details; wait; get confirmation; fill in more details; wait; get confirmation . . . and so on. I suppose it's to try and weed out fraudulent 'sellers' who list items they don't have, collect the money and disappear without a trace, but it can be a little frustrating at times. When starting a new account, ebay requires you to have at least 10 feeback points before you can list items as 'buy it now' (again, i think this is part of a security strategy). This means that you either have to buy lots of things, or sell lots of items first as auctions which leads to a bit of a chicken and egg situation: do you start with your very best items to try and get the account started with a bit of a bang (and run the risk of them selling way too cheaply as people are wary of bidding on a brand new account), or do you lead with some items that you just want to get rid of and are happy to sell for any amount? I've chosen a mix, about 70% good stuff with 30% cheaper or older items. We'll see how it goes! Anyway, lots more fabrics at the back of the mill shop that need measuring, tagging and photographing, so i'd better get back to it! See you all soon. "Natural Linen"
