Mrs Cranston's Tearooms are world famous. Partly for their marvellous food; but also because of their association with Charles Rennie MacKintosh.
They were designed as a collaberation between CRM and Mrs C with no detail too small. Much of the detail was filled with hidden meaning. For example the name "Willow Tearoom" was very appropriate because the road it is located on Sauchiehall Street is old Scots for Willow Avenue.
Take the beautiful tableware, another variation on the willow pattern. This time combining the ancient willow pattern with the rose; a famous emblem of Charles Rennie MacKintosh as can be seen at Mary07734 on Ebay, a stunning example of this fine ware.
No detail was too small and CRM even supervised the arrangement of the flowers on the tables.
Such treasures are part of our history and to own such a piece is to bring these heady days back to life.
