I know that there are many blogs already devoted to the topic of "How to spot fakes", but I would like to offer a more down to earth, simple method of determining if a seller is selling fakes or authentic merchandise. Although not all of the factors that I am about to list indicate that the seller is selling fakes, but if more than two of them apply than the seller is probably selling fakes.
1. Most sellers who sell fakes only deal with high end items that are worth faking (such as D&G, Armani, Hugo Boss, etc.), so look at other items the seller has listed and see if they are all high end.
2. Many times it will be the only item the seller has listed, since they want to experiment and see if they'll get away with it.
3. Most seller who sell counterfeits are small time sellers and don't have professional photograph equipments, so if the pictures are of cheap quality watch out, it may be a fake.
4. Most counterfeit suit are of cheap quality and easy to spot in person, but not as easy if you all you have is a photo. So if the seller has no track record of selling these suits, be suspicious. Most high end suit sellers are "Power Sellers" and "Top Rated" sellers. Although some counterfeit sellers are "Power Sellers" and "Top Rated" sellers, its usually from selling small cheap gadgets, so look to see what they sold in the past.
5. The pictures are always the biggest give away. An authentic seller will always include close up pictures of the stitching and the tags.
So to sum it up; Look for Top Rated Power Sellers who have many items listed and have a track record for selling such items. Look for detailed pictures.
Good luck e-baying!
