Is this legal to grow tobacco? Growing Nicotiana Tabacum (the common North American tobacco) for your own use is fully permitted in most areas of the world. I do not know of any place in North America, where this would be not the case. Like making your own wine or beer, you also will not be allowed sell it. Restrictions are often only placed on the number of tobacco plants you will be allowed to grow and or the size of your tobacco field.
