Comic Postcards

When a non-collector thinks about postcards they invariably think of seaside shops and their racks of cards depicting oversized women, hen-pecked husbands, risque jokes and dishrevelled drunks. Signed cards by artists such as Donald McGill, F.G.Lewin, Tom Browne and John Hassall bring an interest and better prices, although in the main there remain few buyers for most signed works. Comic series published by Raphael Tuck & Sons and Bamforth & Co are always of interest. Certain subject types also attract attention such as Chess, Rugby Football, Tennis and suffragettes. In fact the latter can bring good prices.
