We love this vintage "Midnight Owl Radio" - he is bold, gold & beautiful - made in the 1960s, he is thought to be the inspiration for Ray Harryhausen when he was making the original "Clash of the Titans" movie . According to Hollywood stories, Harryhausen wanted a creature/character to compete with Star Wars' R2-D2. He spotted a friendly owl transistor radio just like this one on someone's desk and loved it - and came up with the character Owl Bubo, a loveable & friendly mechanical owl, sent by the Gods of Olympus to aid Perseus on his quest. This Vintage Japanese Owl Radio is large and in charge - approx. 7" high by 4.75" across, he stands on 2 gold feet and looks out at the world with jeweled ruby eyes that are also his tuning & volume knobs! His body is made up of beautifully detailed and crafted cream colored molded plastic, with gold anodized brushed aluminum wings, horns & beak. He operates with a 9 volt battery (we will include a new battery, not installed). The battery compartment is accessed via his feet! Please see all photos for best idea of style, we have included some items for size reference - this is a good sized radio - he will look AMAZING on your desk and will be sure to be a converstion starter!
