Vintage Fenton Hobnail Pattern Hi and welcome to my blog! I thought I would let you in on easy way to tell if the piece of glass you are looking at is really Fenton Hobnail. All pre 1970 glass is unmarked by Fenton so how do you tell? It is easier than most think! Fenton was a quality glass company and the quality shows in their work. The Fenton Company when they made their Hobnail Pattern-any color-made their's slightly different than the other companies(ex:Cambridge or Anchor Hocking's Moonstone). The actual hobnails are more pointed than the "Moonstone". The "Moonstone" points are softly rounded-Fenton's are pointed and sharp.Easy lesson for when you are at an auction and see a piece of glass and think about bidding. Even if the auction house describes it as Fenton, Anchor Hocking or Cambridge-you will be the wiser buyer and know the difference. So shop with confidence in the market of glass-for you now know the simple rule to tell Fenton French Opalescent from others!
