    Item: Hand Coiled & Hand Painted Jemez Pot by Emma Yepa. Pueblo: Jemez Artist Info: Emma Yepa was born on 5/13/1968 into the Jemez Coyote Clan. She was taught her craft by her mother Ida Yepa. She specializes in stone polished redware and tanware, some sgraffito, melon swirl pots. She has won several awards and has been hard at work since 1981. Measurements: 3 5/8 inches tall, 4 inches wide and a 1 1/2 inch opening. All measurements are approximate. Condition: New, no scratches, chips or blemishes. Signed: Emma Yepa, Jemez Description: The workmanship on this stone polished and carved redware pot is so fine. It is carved on the top portion in bold Prayer Feather, Kiva Step and geometric patterns. The bottom portion is stone polished in rust giving the pot a dazzling contrast. She was taught her craft by her mother Persingular R. Tosa. She specializes in traditional redware, tanware, polished vases, melon jars, Wedding Vases and sgrafitto. She has won numerous awards. Her favorite designs are melons, Kiva Steps, feather in a row and swirls. Pauline has been hard at work since 1981 years. Measurements: 5 inches tall, 3 1/2 inches wide, with a 2 1/2 inch opening. Condition: New Signed: E Herrera, Cochiti, NM Artist Info: This work of art was created by noted Cochiti artist Edwin Herrera. Edwin was born into the Elk Clan on 6/6/ 1966. He was taught his craft by his mother the late and noted potter Mary Frances Herrera. He is the brother of Dorothy Herrera, Mary Ramona Herrera and the uncle of Johnna Herrera. He specializes in wildlife figures, Nativities, bear sculptures, Storytellers and pottery bowls. He has been hard at work since the early 1980's. Edwin likes to create his pottery in the old Cochiti Pueblo designs. Description: What an adorable and precious piece this is. Mama bear is giving her little cub sitting on her back a pony ride. Just look at all the fine detail from the raised ears, big eyes, snout, babies smile, to the Bear Paws painted on both sides of her body.
