Next up,FireKing's'Gay Fad's'in Milk Glass!Coming Soon! Ok guy's,here we go!Before I start,I'd like to remind you that I am Not an expert,and that most of this is just my own personal opinion!What do You know about Gay Fad Studeo's?Me,not much,but I'm trying to learn,because when I bought my first[and only so far]piece,I had no idea what it was other than something I thought must have been amazing in it's day and had a great story to tell!This lonley little Milk Glass Bowl was missing most of it's paint,but you could still tell that it was some sort of Fruit!But since it was Milk Glass,I bought it!You see,I love anything Milk Glass,because I see such history in it and know it could tell a great story!And I love a great story!I do know that Gay Fad Studeo's was located across the street from Anchor Hocking's main Plant and each piece was Hand Painted FireKing Ware,making each piece so unique!There are many pattern's of Gay Fad,but Fruit and Peach Blossom seem to be the mainstay's.You have your Regular fruit and your Out lined Fruit,which consist's of an Apple and a BlueBerry!The Peach Blossom Was in the 1954 to 1955 catalog and has also been called Dogwood or AppleBlossom,but the Peach Blossom has 5 Petal's,wheras the Dogwood and Apple Blossom only have 4.The Peach blossom can also be found on Federal and Hazel Atlas Glass!All are easy to recognize once you start to notice them!You can also find Yellow Rose[self explanatory!]and Poinsettia,which is a large Red Flower,then there is also PineCone[also self explanatory!]Then you have the Dutch Tulip,consisting of a Red tulip center with Yellow on either side and Green Foliage.The last one that I know of is the'Distlefink'of which I have No idea where that name came from!It is a Lavender/Blue Bird on Brown Vine's with green leave's and an Orangy/Red Bird on Yellow with Red Heart Shape Fruit.The Yellow Rose and Poinsettia can also be found on Ivory and Satanized Crystal!The sad thing about Gay Fad is that it is all too easily worn off and Chipped,so if you are lucky enough to have a piece or more ,Please,take special care and wash with a very mild detergent and don't scrub!And please No Dishwasher's Allowed!!!So I hope you were able to learn a little something from this,and I sure hope you will add anything you know here also!I would Greatly appreciate any and all comment's!And as alway's,Happy Hunting while your out there!!!

When I first decided I was going to write a Blog,I had so many idea's,I wasn't sure where I wanted to start!I mean,I knew I was going to write about Vintage Item's and Antique's[my 1st love!],but where to start?I am No expert by any mean's,but I do know a little bit about a lot of different thing's,and if I don't know about something,there are alway's book's out there on Everything[and their uncle's!]!Then,as I was researching price's on my own item's,I noticed that there was an item that seemed to be very undervalued!What I'm talking about is Vintage FireKing Peach Lustre!I only have a few of these piece's,but once I noticed them,they seemed to be everywhere!Garage Sale's,Yard Sale's,Estate Sale's and on and on,especially online Sale's spot's!Now,if someone such as Martha Stewart or Oprah mentioned them or even were seen near a piece in public,they would automaticley SkyRocket!But right now,I don't understand how something so Pretty and that seem's to mix and match so well with so many different thing's can be ignored so lightly?Whether you use them on a Formal table setting or just a Casual set-up,they can blend in with so much of what we already have at home!If you don't already know about Peach Lustre,let's have a little chat about it! Peach Lustre started out in 1951 as'Golden Peach Lustre'It is associated with the'Laurel'pattern,but Anchor Hocking only used Laurel for the Grey!From it's Introduction,until it's demise in 1965,the name was used for it's color as well as the pattern!There have been many pattern's of the Peach Lustre since then from Lustre Shell to Lustre Swirl and so on.But the most aggravating thing about the Peach Lustre through the year's has been that the spray on color Disintegrate's!You just need to remember to treat them gently and wash them with a very mild detergent!In 1958,FireKing came out with'Copper Tint'.I've noticed that folk's tend to call this Peach Lustre as well!These item's have the outer tint of the original Peach Luster,but have the very pretty added benifit of being White Milk Glass inside!Also with these item's they ran into the same problem with disintigration of the color and FireKing quit making them in 1971.In 1976,FireKing came out with'Royal Lustre',the new pattern reinstating the'Peach Lustre'color.Evidentilly,Royal Lustre was not very accepted in'76,so Anchor'White'was also produced,but both color's were discontinued by 1977,which make's finding these piece's today very difficult!Although very similar to the'Jane Ray'pattern,the edge's of'Royal'are'Scalloped'! If you really want to set an interesting table,or just set up snack's on your coffee table for friend's,I truely believe that Peach Lustre is the way to go!I'd bet you even money that before the end of the evening at least one,if not more,friend's will have comminted on what pretty dish's those are!So if I were you,I'd start paying more attention to those Peach Lustre piece's you see for sale around,especially since the price's are so low!You can very easily get a few[or a lot!]of piece's for very little to either mix in with the table setting you have at home,or as a stand out setting all on their own on a snack table!And try using them for other use's than what they were meant for!Make a flower arrangement in an old vintage'Copper Tint'Peach Lustre Loaf Pan! Just remember,handle with Loving Care!And please,NO dishwasher's!!!
