Ski Helmets; the Most Fashionable Accessory on the Slopes
2:21 AM PST, 12/16/2006
By Gill Ruck

The wearing of snow sports helmets has become increasingly popular season after season over the past decade. Helmets are now compulsory in competitive skiing and snowboarding and increasingly being worn by high-profile skiers. With a huge range of colours and designs available ski helmets are fast becoming regarded as a trendy and essential fashion accessory.
Currently it is not a requirement for adults or children to wear a ski or snowboarding helmet whilst participating in recreational skiing. The exception to this is one of the most fashion conscious countries in the world; Italy, where the wearing of helmets became compulsory for all under-14s on 1st January 2005.
Italy is the first European country to legislate that children must wear helmets on the ski slopes. Those caught without helmets will face a fine of £100. In addition to the helmet requirement for children, off piste skiers are obliged to carry an electronic page and ski police will be able to fine skiers for excessive speeding. All Italian resorts are expected to adhere to these rules and some ski schools offer free ski helmets to children taking lessons.
With the Italian legislation now in place it is likely that other European countries will be seriously considering following suit.
The wearing of ski helmets in general has become much more acceptable. No longer are skiers or boarders regarded as ‘uncool’, on the contrary helmets are becoming more and more cool. Today’s ski helmets are functional, attractive, light and less restrictive than their helmet cousins of the early nineties.
With the growing popularity of safety gear, not only in winter sports but in many other sports, and the fact that more skiers are looking for extreme conditions, helmet sales have soared over the past few years. According to www.skihelmets.com, 44% of skiers currently wear a helmet and 42% are intending to wear one the next time they visit the slopes.
Helmet manufacturers have noticed the rise in the use of helmets by skiers and snowboarders and are thus developing new types and designs every season. The focus for manufacturers is making helmets lighter, more durable and more fashionable in an attempt to reduce the resistance with first-time buyers. Furthermore, some helmet companies are trying to construct helmets which can be used for multiple activities such as climbing, skating and cycling thereby increasing the usage of a helmet for a consumer.
All ski helmets should carry a CE, ASTM or Snell RS-98 certification. ASTM standards have been determined by a range of tests on helmet models. These tests include testing the strength of a helmet's retention system under simulated hot, cold and wet conditions and multiple impacts and velocity forces against various sections of the helmet to determine performance in skiing accidents.
Online sports helmet retailer www.hardheadhelmets.co.uk has ski and boarding helmets available starting from £29.99 for children and £37.99 for adults.

I Love Christmas Eve Shopping
2:12 AM PST, 12/16/2006
By Bob Alexander

To me, one of the joys of Christmas is shopping for that special gift on Christmas Eve. I love the crowds; jostling, folks bumping into each other with smiles and apologies that would ordinarily be absent on any other day. Of course you run the risk of being trampled by the sea of humanity if you're shopping at the mall, but that just adds excitement to the holiday shopping experience! I love shopping at the mall on Christmas Eve.
Entering the mall, you hear Bing Crosby singing "White Christmas', Dean Martin singing "Silver Bells and Johnny Cash singing "Little Drummer Boy". I always find my way to the food court, no matter which mall I'm in. I'm always hungry on Christmas Eve and the food shops make an extra effort to show their Christmas spirit. I love seeing the Oriental ladies in Santa hats offering bites of egg rolls to passers by and the Mexican girls offering nachos to everyone. If this doesn't get you in the Christmas mood nothing will. You're hopeless!
I love people watching at the food court who never look on Christmas Eve as the exciting day I find it to be. There are fathers trying to control their kids while mom has gone to the other end of the mall, giving Santa a little help in the Christmas present department. When mom returns, dad will wander off himself, away from prying eyes to buy something to slip under the tree for mom the next morning.
After a quick bite to eat, strolling through the mall concourse, I see window displays decked out in holiday finery. Sale ads are everywhere! Jewelry ½ off! Women's clothing 60% off! Every gift item anyone could imagine is on sale! Everything from books to chocolates is all dressed up in Christmas wrappings! Even the store clerks, instead of the weary expressions they exhibited yesterday, are happy and cheerful today. This day, more than any other during the Christmas holidays generates a warm and pleasant atmosphere.
Mall shopping on Christmas Eve is also a great place to run into old friends and acquaintances. One never knows just who will be seen struggling with an armful of bags holding gifts for their families. There is always enough time to stop and say "Merry Christmas" to someone you haven't seen in ages.
When I enter the mall on Christmas Eve, I rarely know what I'm going to buy. I don't have any preconceived ideas that would force me to look for something that may not be there. I have long held that it is more blessed to give than receive, so I give someone something I want them to have. They never know what that might be.
I know it's more practical to ask someone what they want and then buy it. To me, that takes the fun out of buying a gift. It makes it seems more like grocery shopping with a list of items you must buy. When I spot that special item, I know immediately it's something that would be perfect for the person I'm buying it for!
Political correctness today dictates that we not use the word Christmas in our greetings; instead we're to say Happy Holidays. That doesn't work for me. Christmas has been celebrated as the birthday of Jesus Christ since approximately 98 AD with the Bishop of Rome declaring December 25th as the official day around 350 AD.
There are of course, arguments that this is not the correct date of Jesus' birth. Those arguments are probably true; more likely He was born in the spring. It doesn't really matter though, the reason we celebrate Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ! If it offends someone because of the name of the holidays, simply do not participate! It's that easy.
As I leave the mall, the Salvation Army volunteers ring their bells as passers by throw money into the kettle in the spirit of Christmas. It's been a great day! Now I'll go home and wait for Santa!

Unique Christmas Gift
2:09 AM PST, 12/16/2006
By Gado Wager

We all know the problem and every year we are suddenly surprised again in a very negative way that christmas comes around so fast. If you are tired of getting the same gift each year for your wife, husband, boss, or friend, you are probably looking for places to find a unique Christmas gift. These aren’t as hard to come by as you may think, but you will have to put some thought in to it. When I look for a unique Christmas gift for someone special, I have to stop and think about that person, and then start my search from there.
Look for the unusual
Each person is unique, so if you think of what makes them tick, and what they love to do, finding a unique Christmas gift is not as hard as you may think. Do a little brainstorming. Many times, it is just a matter of finding something you know they don’t have, and then looking for the unusual. If you know a golfer, but can’t imagine buying them clubs, a unique Christmas gift for that person might be a golf bag in their favorite color that is monogrammed with their initials.
You might also consider their personal interests when looking for a unique Christmas gift. You might find the cook in your family a book from their favorite chef, and see if you can get it autographed for them. This might not be possible, but some people will autograph stuff if you mail it in and provide a post-paid return envelope or box. If you know someone who is really into Elvis, look on eBay for a collector’s item that is in your price range. Gift baskets can also be a unique Christmas gift.
No two personally created gift baskets will be the same, and these are often popular yet unique Christmas gift ideas. The best thing about gift baskets is that they are easy to make on your own, and you can fill it with whatever your friend or spouse loves. They aren’t just good for Christmas either; they can be a great gift any time of the year and for any occasion. If you really want something off the wall and totally out of the ordinary, take your search for a unique Christmas gift online. There are things available online that you may have never imagined, and things that are sure to turn someone’s head. Even things youve never thought of becoming a present can turn into something you find worth being gifted.
These sites are often found using search terms like “unique”, “strange”, or “weird”, along with the word “gift”. Just surf around on these pages. You never know what kind of unique Christmas gift you might turn up.

Cheap Christmas Present
2:06 AM PST, 12/16/2006
By Gado Wager

Every year there are so many people to buy for during the holiday season. When times are tough (and it feels like they are) you may want to consider a cheap Christmas present here and there to cut back on holiday spending. This may sound like a tacky approach but you can find great presents for reasonable prices. Quite often on subjects you don´t think of in the first place. Even a simple christmas photo card that shows the person that you think of her can be worth more than big christmas gift baskets.
Many people don’t want to bother buying a cheap Christmas gift but it is better than the other alternatives. This is especially true if you have bought for the individual in the past. The person may understand that you are struggling but he still may feel unimportant if you completely strike him off your Christmas list. And that´s not necessary at all. You really don’t want to avoid buying a present all together.
You also don’t want to overspend just to spare a person’s feelings. Getting a cheap Christmas gift instead would be better. I would hate to find out that someone paid too much money during the holiday season. I would feel awful if I received a present from this person if he or she couldn’t afford it.
When I say cheap I really mean reasonable. The word has such negative connotations. A cheap Christmas gift is commonly associated with something tacky but it doesn’t have to be. You can find lovely cheap Christmas presents that are useful and that will be appreciated. Here are some quick ideas.
Coffee Beans - a Gift for Coffee lovers
Coffee lovers always appreciate getting coffee beans for a gift. You fill a coffee mug with packets of coffee designed for single pot servings. This cheap Christmas gift is a great idea for anyone who loves coffee and it costs nothing more than the price of the mug and coffee packets.
Christmas Photo Cards , Photo Albums and Frames
Photo albums and frames make fantastic presents. This is a relatively cheap Christmas gift. You can offset the low price by adding a priceless photograph in the frame or in the photo album. This is a wonderful cheap Christmas gift that has great sentimental appeal what is for many people still the essential reason for celebrating the Christmas Time.
Calendars, Appointment Books and Address Books
Calendars, appointment books and address books are all great thrifty ideas for this time of year and are really unique christmas gift ideas. I always forget to buy a new calendar and I love anything that helps me stay organized. I would rather get a cheap Christmas gift that I can use than and expensive one that I can’t. Useful things are of value even when not of high price and they remind the person everytime they take it to hand of you.
Always remember: it is the Thought that counts!
This is really true. It is important to remember that when it comes to holiday presents, it is the thought that counts. Consider some of your favorite presents. A tin of home made cookies may have just popped into your mind. A cheap Christmas gift that takes time, thought and effort is sometimes the best present you can give.

This Holiday Season, Check Your Store's Product Return Policy Before You Buy
2:02 AM PST, 12/16/2006
By Aldene Fredenburg

Whether you plan to buy a twenty dollar sweater or a wide screen TV for your loved one this Christmas, it’s wise to check your store’s return policy before you buy. More and more, stores are either insisting on accepting returns for exchange only, or are charging a sometimes substantial restock fee, either for a fixed amount or for a percentage of the purchase price. If your gift is a high-ticket item, having to return it and sacrifice a sizeable fee is not going to preserve your holiday spirit.
Ask the sales clerk who waits on you what the store’s return policy is. If you find the terms acceptable, ask if you can get the policy in writing—especially if you are buying a high priced item. Some cash registers print out the return policy and other essential information about your purchase right on the sales slip. Stores who don’t have such information on the sales slip often have their return policies printed in a flyer for their customers, or displayed in the store.
If you don’t like a store’s return policy, shop around. You may find that you can negotiate a better deal, or find a store that accepts merchandise back for a full refund, with no fee and no questions asked. You may also have more luck with a locally owned store rather than a superstore chain.
Taking the time to check return policies before you buy could save you or your gift recipients a big headache and a lot of money. Any responsible sales clerk will understand and accept your need for this information. If you find yourself getting resistance from a clerk when you ask for a store’s return policy, shop elsewhere.

Underarmor Gear - What is Under Armor All About?
12:29 AM PST, 12/12/2006
By Mike Singh

Under Armor is a brand name of clothing that is the ultimate in protection for the skin. It is made from a light and flexible ablative spandex weave that absorbs the sweat from your body and distributes it all over the skin.
This was designed by athletes for athletes because they knew the problems that athletes had with sweating during intensive exercise training. This line of under armor clothing helps to regulate the body temperature by whisking away the moisture and bringing it to the surface of the skin. Then it easily evaporates so that you are not feeling drenched and wet after your workout.
There are many types of Under Amor gear that you can wear. The headgear line of the Under Armor clothing consists of sleeveless and long sleeved t-shirts as well as compression shorts. You do not even notice that you are wearing this clothing under your regular clothing because it fits like a second skin.
If you play sports that could result in you skimming along the ground, a line of Under Armor gear called Turf Wear actually protects your body from turf burns. The longsleeved t-shirt protects your elbows and still whisks away the moisture from the skin. The turf leggings have a drawstring waistband and grip strips on the ankles to help them fit snugly. There are even headbands to keep the sweat from dripping down into your eyes.
You can also have loose Under Armor gear and this is a comfortable choice for athletes who train outdoors. There is also a performance line of Under Armor clothing, but this has a slightly heavier material. All the Under Armor clothing is available in team colors, so you can still be coordinated when you are training.

What To Look For In An NCAA Jersey
1:25 AM PST, 12/11/2006
By Lee Dobbins

Buying sports clothing has definitely become a very appealing market for most teenagers and young adults. Statistical reports show that nearly 70% of teenager's clothing are geared towards sports. In fact, the popularity of a certain sports apparel is increased if it is being worn or endorsed by their favorite sports celebrities.
The trend today for most teenagers is to have that widely held jacket, cap, or that well-known sports jersey and wear it whenever he goes out with his friends or goes to school.
With the growing trend in this industry, more and more manufacturers are trying to come up with fashionable sports apparel that will provide not just comfortable shield against environmental stressors but also improve one's overall appearance.
With that in mind the popular sports association in the United States, the National Collegiate Athletic Association or NCAA, has decided to produce specially designed jerseys to meet the demands of the consumers.
An expert in the field of sports organization and handling of different sports events, NCAA knows how important it is to maintain the spirit of sports enthusiasm reflected on their NCAA jerseys. In this way, the energy that binds people together to root for their favorite team in a particular sport is extended even if the game is over. Just by wearing NCAA jerseys, people are ensured that the sports spirit will remain in their mind, body, and heart.
NCAA jerseys, just like the other sports jerseys, are representations of those shirts being worn by the team members of a particular sport. Jerseys bear the name of the team member's name and team number as well as the team's company sponsor or the team's logo.
When buying NCAA jerseys, there are certain factors and tips that you must consider before you go out and purchase one. Here is how:
1. The right type of apparel
NCAA jerseys do not have to look good on everybody. Hence, even if a certain NCAA jersey looked good on your friend, it does not necessarily follow that it will look good on you. Therefore, it is best that you try to consider the style or the type of apparel that you will wear and see if it will look good on you before you try buying the item.
Comfort may be one of the top priorities when buying NCAA jerseys, but it is likewise important to know if that jersey will bring out the best in you. Besides, if you are trying to flaunt your specially designed NCAA jersey, then, you must really have to look good with it.
2. Authenticity
The popularity of NCAA jerseys is rooted on the fact that the qualities of the materials used are superior. Hence, it is best to always go for the authenticity of the material. Do not just believe on the claims of different vendors saying that their NCAA jersey is authentic.
In most cases, serial numbers or holograms are the primary basis of authenticity.
3. Autographed
NCAA jerseys are further popularized by the fact that most of them bear the signature of their favorite sports celebrity. Hence, it is best to consider the authenticity of the signature such as ensuring it is autographed or hand signed and not just a copy of the actual signature.
4. The type of material used
It is best to always buy NCAA jersey that provides optimum comfort. Experts highly recommend comfortable sports apparel especially those that are made up of cotton. This material has been proven to be effective in providing coziness and durability. NCAA jerseys should not just look good on you but should also promote comfort by allowing air to pass through in and out of your body, thereby, promoting optimal breathability.
5. Distributor
You can buy NCAA jerseys directly from the NCAA itself. However, there are some companies that were endowed with the right to exclusively distribute NCAA jerseys. It is best to verify the background of the company first if they are duly recognized and authorized by the NCAA to sell or distribute their sports jerseys.
Indeed, buying NCAA jerseys may seem like buying an ordinary clothing. However, if you really know the value of the item, you will know that it is extremely important to keep these things in mind so that there will be no effort or money lost.

Gearing Up for Fitness with Online Sports Apparel
1:15 AM PST, 12/11/2006
By Chris Robertson

Getting in shape is much easier when you have the appropriate sports apparel to wear. With so many online resources, you can now find almost any type of clothing for fitness and exercise, running, playing sports games, etc.
Many of these items can be found online at a sports shopping mall in a variety of brand names such as NBA, NFL, NASCAR and NCAA, and at a reasonable price. Here's a quick guide to sports apparel, and how to choose the clothing and accessories that are right for you.
Apparel for Playing Sports (Sports Jerseys-Apparel, etc.)
When ordering items such as sports jerseys or other apparel for yourself or your team, keep in mind that the fit should be comfortable and the materials should be flexible. During any active game such as football, basketball, soccer, hockey, baseball, etc., there will be lots of arm and leg movement. Be sure to order the appropriate sizes and allow for a little moving room. Don't order items too big because the clothing could be a hindrance if it's too baggy. Spandex materials are usually popular choices for these types of sports.
Track and Running Shoes
If you're involved in track at school or in the professional realm, the main focus should be on your running shoes. Choose shoes that fit snug, but comfortably. The shoes should not slide on your heel, nor should they hurt your toes after wearing them for an hour or two. Be sure the shoes provide adequate support for your heels and arches. Also, buy running shoes that feel lightweight on your feet while running. Check to make sure the shoes have good treads on the bottom. Your running shoes should be a help, not a hindrance.
Fitness Training and Gym Workouts
At the gym, or during fitness training, buy sports clothing according to the type of exercises you will perform. For instance, wear pants that fit snugly around the legs if doing leg exercises, especially on an exercise bike or similar equipment. Loose-fitting pants could get caught in the machinery and cause injury.
For aerobic-style fitness training, wear leotards with leggings, bike shorts and a jog top. Or, wear a snug-fitting t-shirt with boxer-style shorts. Don't wear clothing that's baggy, as it will hinder your body's movement. For shoes, wear aerobic shoes if possible, but avoid running shoes with heavy treads.
Sports Swimwear
If swimming in competitions, choose a bathing suit that promotes speed and smooth swimming. There are special types of swimsuits that have "vertical line" designs in the material to channel water away from the body. Competition swimwear should be slick, comfortable, and allow for easy body movement.
To find these types of unique sportswear items used to be difficult - especially for those living in a small town with limited retailers. But nowadays, you can shop for all types of sports clothing and fitness apparel from your own home computer any time of the day or week.
Online sports shopping malls offer all types of sports clothing, fitness wear, athletic supplies, sporting goods-sports equipment, sports memorabilia, and more. And, you can usually get a great price for these items online. Use the tips above to dress for sports success!Chris Robertson is an author of Majon International, one of the worlds MOST popular internet marketing companies on the web. Clothing and Fashion for Men
12:11 AM PST, 12/10/2006
By Sarah Freeland

One of the most popular item purchased by people shopping for men’s clothing are t-shirts. T-shirts are a great option for building a man’s wardrobe. This is because t-shirts come in a variety of great colors, they offer a great selection of designs, and they come in either long sleeved or short sleeved options. Also if the man that you are shopping for is into vintage designs then you can also purchase vintage tees.
Sweatshirts are another popular men’s clothing option. In the past sweatshirt designs have been limited to grey gym wear, however, now a days you have a lot of great sweatshirt fashion choices to select from. Some of the most popular sweatshirt styles on the market today include hoodies and athletic sweatshirts.
A great men’s shirt option for the work environment is the sweater. Sweaters come in a variety of styles and they can easily be worn as professional wear or for special occasions. Most merchants that sell men’s clothing will sell a selection of men’s sweaters.
To find the best t-shirt, sweatshirt, or sweater for yourself or for a man that you are shopping for, you will want to take into consideration several measurements. These measurements include the size of the man’s neck, the width of his shoulders, and the size of his waist. These measurements will help you find a man’s top that has the right fit and feel. All About T-Shirts
11:59 PM PST, 12/9/2006
By Sarah Freeland

If you are looking for unique shirts for a gift or to add to your own wardrobe then you may want to look at the different types of t-shirts that are available. The first type of t-shirt that are popular are pre-printed tees. These types of t-shirts are great for kids, teens, and adults, and they offer an unlimited number of design possibilities including cartoon characters, television show logos and sayings, funny sayings, and novelty designs.
If you are planning a special event like a fundraiser, a festival, a birthday party, or a family reunion then you may want to look into purchasing screen printed t-shirts. With this t-shirt option you can design your own logo or design and have it printed on the color shirt that you want. You can also choose between long sleeve and short sleeved t-shirts.
Men and women’s t-shirts are usually cut the same, however, some designers create a slightly more tailored t-shirt cut for women’s designs. If you are shopping for a teen or a woman with a smaller build then the fitted tee cut will probably fit their bodies better then the traditional boxy t-shirt cut. Before you buy a t-shirt for a woman you will want to know how she likes her t-shirt to fit, loose or fitted. If you know this then you will know what t-shirt cut to look for.
Another t-shirt shopping option is to buy a vintage t-shirt. Vintage t-shirts don’t always mean second hand. In some stores vintage t-shirts are new shirts with vintage designs. If you are interested in this type of t-shirt then you will need to look for them in specialty shops and boutiques, as most regular retailers don’t carry vintage styles t-shirts, however, this is slowly starting to change.
