You guessed it, we manufactured this rope for a world renown trainer and yes, they changed their mind on the color. This rope is a double braid polyester rope! It is premium and can be used in numerous applications. Most standard double braid ropes (braided rope over another braided rope) have a cover which if you look closely *super closely* has 8 to 9 picks per inch. That is if you count the strands going up, it would be 8-9 ever inch. Yacht rope was previously manufactured to be used in the marine industry, however lately the cross over to other industries has sky rocketed. When designing this rope, we wanted to give the rope a bit more firmness, however did not want is so stiff that it is hard to work with. Polyester is a great rope with great abrasion resistant properties. Some brands of rope (not just the smaller mills, however some of the larger US mills), have had problems with their yacht ropes herniating (core coming out of the cover) when used in the equestrian halter manufacturing process. Due to the number of knots, some ropes put pressure on the core of the rope, causing it to bulge out through the cover of the rope. By adding a few additional picks to the cover of a rope, it decreases the chance of herniation, while giving the rope a bit more structure making it not as flimsy. It's a great rope and can cross over into numerous industries. We are pleased with this design and are using it for many horse trainers as well as others in various industries. Double braid polyester is used in numerous applications as well. 3/4" is a larger diameter and often used in the rigging, towing, secondary mooring lines, and tugging applications. There are many other uses for it as well, for even as simple things as barrier cord (although it is an overkill for strength). A double braid rope is a braided rope, over another braided rope. This increases the strength of the rope. Often when used in the rigging or for winch line applications, a coating is put over top to increase the life of the rope and help with abrasion resistant properties. Polyester has increased abrasion resistant properties over polypropylene ropes. This particular rope has a tensile strength of approx. 17,000 lbs. Its a very strong rope with little stretch. Kayak cord has so many uses from Kayak/marine use to industrial, as well as manufactured into stiff 4 knot halters used by many famous trainers (I won't say Who?). This rope is a polyester. Polyester rope has great abrasion resistant properties, as well as little stretch. Want a great rope that will hold up throughout the years, this is your rope. Polyester fibers also do not fade colors in the sun as fast as a polypropylene or multifilament polypropylene (MFP). This rope is 5mm which is approximately 3/16" or a tad bit shy of 1/4". Kayak cord is a stiffer rope and similar products are made from different mills. Samson rope, one of the US leading producers of rope, makes a product.
