Is this legal to grow tobacco?
9:49 AM PST, 11/25/2010
Is this legal to grow tobacco? Growing Nicotiana Tabacum (the common North American tobacco) for your own use is fully permitted in most areas of the world. I do not know of any place in North America, where this would be not the case. Like making your own wine or beer, you also will not be allowed sell it. Restrictions are often only placed on the number of tobacco plants you will be allowed to grow and or the size of your tobacco field. However, this amount is in any case more than enough to supply yourself with tobacco year around. One department, where you can find out all the facts, is your local agricultural department. Cheaper and better cigarette or pipe tobacco
9:40 AM PST, 11/25/2010
With the rising cost of tobacco, more smokers than before are growing and making their own tobacco at home. Also to avoid dangerous phosphate fertilizers, which are being used by the commercial growing industry. Growing tobacco for your own use is fully permitted in most areas. Should a garden not be available, then you can also grow your tobacco plants in large pots on a balcony or inside the house. To dry the leaves and to process them into cigarette or pipe tobacco does not require any special equipment. All this can be done right in your own kitchen. After the harvest, you can already enjoy your own tobacco within weeks and not months or years. It is easy and fast! I smoke homemade tobacco already for years. Making your own tobacco is fun and inexpensive. Please go to: www.seedgnome.com to check out my tobacco seeds and the two booklets. The Health Reason: Tobacco plants deplete the soil of nutrients much faster than most other plants. Therefore, cost-effective phosphate fertilizers are being used in the tobacco farming industry. However, phosphate fertilizers contain a natural occurring radioactive radon, which the leaves pick up. When smoking, this radon is then getting into the lungs. Radio activity never leaves the body. It builds up and it causes cancer. Phosphates are a killer! Smoking daily 1 1/2 packs of cigarettes for a year, equals to at least 300 chest x-rays. Check this out on the Internet for yourself. Do not use phosphate fertilizers when growing tobacco, vegetables or fruits! -
Tobacco Germination Tips
9:35 AM PST, 11/25/2010
Tobacco Germination Tips Do not cover tobacco seeds with soil. They need daylight to germinate. Provide a place near a window or light from an All-Spectrum electrical source. Always keep the soil moist but not wet. The seeds will die if they dry out. You may need to check the soil for moisture several times during the day, until the seeds have germinated. A good temperature to germinate tobacco seeds is about 75 - 80 degrees F. Germination can begin already after three days. Longer (up to 9 days) under imperfect conditions. A good soil to germinate and grow tobacco is composted cow manure or tomato planting soil. Tobacco seeds can be stored in a freezer to keep their viability for many years. Acclimatize them to room temperature for two weeks before seeding. If you want your tobacco plants to develop more seeds, then planting some catnip herbs nearby is advisable. Hardly any other plant draws as many bees for pollination into your garden. You will be surprised how well this works! Please visit our store for more information at: www.seedgnome.com
