Hey to all auction lovers! Last thursday I was at this awesome antique toy auction sale. They had other stuff too but the main emphasis was toys on this particular night. Not everything sold which is somehwat unusual. Someone had brought a very large collection of Steiff bears and animals and Dickens houses. The bids were not going as they liked so they pulled almost everything after a while! There was an entire set of steiff bears in the jazz band. They did get close to 1000$ for that so it was sold but no one went for the opening bid of 1000$ on the circus wagon set--all in original boxes and in perfect condition. There were a few things that sold from the Dickens houses but they weren't going for much over 25.00 so they were pulled too. I felt sorry for the lady who took the rest of the night packing it up! I guess that's the way it goes sometimes. I had heard that the lady who was selling the stuff was moving to florida and didn't want to take it with her. Maybe she changed her mind. There were a lot of other great bargains to be had though. I got a box of old wooden cars for 1.00. Sold them yesterday for 15.00 at an antique toy show. Bought a box full of whistles (about 15) and sold almost all of them yesterday as well. Didn't sell the cute child's shoe shine box I bought for 10$ or the stuffed vintage angel I bought for 1.00. It's nice! I did get a big stuffed terrier for 5.00 and let it go for 15$ and a very old doll that needed repair that I bought for 5.00 and sold for 15.00. (I was asking 20.00). Not all that much but it adds up. I have some other things that I will probably be listing on ebay soon. Some really great old music, Campbell Kids dolls, old masks, child's indian costume, etc. If you don't see them on my listings, check out my daughter's listings at fishygrl273. We share the stuff and have separate ebay stores as well as auction listings. Share your auction stories!
