  • Polyshrink plastic sheets

    These are available in Black, White, Clear and Translucent Quick start instructions. Sand using 220 to 400 grit sandpaper in a crosshatch pattern. Apply design and background colour Cut out your design with regular or decorative scissors. Punch holes with a paper punch. Holes will shrink too. Bake on medium weight, non-corrugated cardboard ( or sandwiched between two sheets) or on Teflon. Avoid baking on bare metal. Bake in a regular or toaster oven at 300f/ 177c for several minutes or heat with an embossing heat tool. After shrinking, your design will be about 45% of its original size and about 1/16th of an inch thick. Most pigments become permanent after shrinking.

    Divided Back 1902-15 Postcards with their back split into two sections, one for the address and the other for the message. Great Britain was the first to allow divided back cards in 1902, France followed in 1904, Germany in 1905 and finally the United States in 1907. These changes brought in the so-called "Golden Age" of postcards as millions were sold and used. German printed postcards were popular due to the colours used but eventually after the beginning of World War One, decline of imported cards became obvious Undivided backs conversely, a plain back, were used prior to the above mentioned change and Embossed Postcards with raised surface. Usually found amoung Greetings cards Real Photo Postcards These were real photograph postcards usually printed on film stock papers. Topographical postcards, those showing views of towns and cities, castles and cathedrals were printed using the Real Phot process or the printed versions using pixelated pruinting
  • Embossing Powder

    When a non-collector thinks about postcards they invariably think of seaside shops and their racks of cards depicting oversized women, hen-pecked husbands, risque jokes and dishrevelled drunks. Signed cards by artists such as Donald McGill, F.G.Lewin, Tom Browne and John Hassall bring an interest and better prices, although in the main there remain few buyers for most signed works. Comic series published by Raphael Tuck & Sons and Bamforth & Co are always of interest. Certain subject types also attract attention such as Chess, Rugby Football, Tennis and suffragettes. In fact the latter can bring good prices.
