I have been tent camping for many years.  My Dad, brother and I have always love to go camping!  It is such a great way to travel and experience the outdoors.  Now that I have a family of my own I continue to enjoy camping but I have now found an even better way to travel, camp and experience nature.  A teardrop trailer is such a great way to camp!  It offers more comfort than tent camping yet is just as easy if not easier than tent camping.  It is a perfect solution for people who do not want a large camper or an RV but still want to experience the outdoors.  These little campers are very comfortable,  easy to tow by most vehicles and are affordable to build.  I decided to design and build my own campers.  I have started selling my plans under the name of Ty-Dean Custom Campers as well as on E-Bay under the seller name of ty-deancustoms.

I have spent a great deal of time designing this teardrop.  I feel it is really quite easy to build.  These plans should give you the techniques and the knowledge needed to build a very nice functional teardrop trailer.  Your teardrop can be built exactly like the plans or it can be modified and customized as you please.  You can build your teardrop any shape you like but I feel the profile (shape) I have used is esthetically pleasing yet easy to build.  The flat hatch is also much easier to build than the more rounded shaped teardrops.  This profile also provides more space inside as well as in the galley when compared to the rounded shaped teardrops. 

I have included a list of supplies as well as INTERNET web sites and sources for all the parts needed to complete this project.  I designed this camper to use as many "off the shelf" items as possible!  The vast majority of the supplies can be purchased at your local lumber yard or hardware store. 

This littler camper will comfortably sleep 2 adults.  It also has a galley style kitchen in the back (under the hatch).  Plenty of storage space has been incorporated into the design for your food and clothes. 

It is also possible to use an SUV type tent in combination with your teardrop if you need extra sleeping space for the kids.  Here is a picture of one of my other teardrops with the SUV tent attached.  We sleep in the teardrop and the kids sleep in the tent.  The door of the teardrop next to the tent is left open so we can always see the kids.

You can really travel to some beautiful places with your teardrop!  We have traveled all around the eastern United States and into Canada with ours.  It is a very economical way to travel as well.  Camping is much more reasonable compared to spending the night at a hotel.  Here are a few photos from one of our teardrop camping trips to Michigan and Canada.  The first photo was taken right from our camp site!  It was an incredible trip.
