Also could be a great room addition to your present home. It is Hand hewn Post and beam throughout. Even the rafters are hand hewn. The size is 30’ X 40’. At present it is clear span floor to ridge line. It could easily be converted to two story with high ceilings on first floor. Construction allows full open floor plan for main floor. The ridgeline appears straight and sidewalls are within a half a bubble of plumb. The price includes all structure materials from the sill up. There is a huge amount of meat in this building. A few beams need repair but mostly in great shape. Barn can be accessed on all sides by proper equipment for disassembling. This Barn is part of a near 200 year old farmstead in Ferrisburgh, Vermont. We believe it was the original dairy barn on the property {evidence indicates dairy cows were housed in the cellar or first floor}. While the sidewall board & batton sheathing and roofing is pine, the post and beams are clearly a much harder material we think hickory or locust. The posts and beams are also virtually clear of knots with some beams measuring 30 to 40 feet long. The charm of the barn is not only its pegged construction but that all posts and beams are fashioned by hand. You can run your hands over work done by a person living in the early 1800’s . We wonder what his life was like then? It’s a project, but you and your family will cherish it for generations. This structure may be viewed by appointment. Contact us at [email protected]. Terms of sale Barn is being sold as is where is with no warranty implied or given. Barn and all listed parts there of must be removed. Anyone working on the process of dismantling and removing the structure must be covered by proper insurance. Property owner is not responsible for injury or any other losses.
