A unique French painted wash station with country charm and character:-
This unusual piece, circa early 20th century has two hinged lids to the top which lift up and fold right over to form an additional work space. Inside are two inset enamel wash basins, each with twin handles. Underneath, a two door cupboard with one full width interior shelf.
The whole piece is nicely painted in Farrow & Ball's 'French Grey', distressed and waxed giving it a wonderful shabby appearance.
Dimensions are 44" wide x 24 1/2" deep x 32" high.

This box is beautifully made with neat dovetailed joints. It has 'rats tail' style hinges and a key lock to the front, but no key. It is in wonderful condition, very solid, very clean and no visible signs of woodworm. The pine has a warm, mellow tone with the usual little bangs and dings consistent with it's age.
Measures: 49 1/2" long x 21" deep x 20" high A beautiful country piece with good storage capacity ~ ideal for use as a coffee table.

There are no working tin mines left in Cornwall and items like these seldom appear so start the bidding now for your chance to own this unique piece of Cornish heritage!
The main item is an 18th century miner's helmet of typical 'bowler hat' type complete with it's original leather attachment which was for the purpose of repelling water when cutting wet seams. The helmet is sealed with at least one or more layers of bitumen, or something similar. There are a couple of holes near the rim of the leather which look as if they are there for the purpose of hanging the hat up on a nail or hook (see pictures). On the inside of the leather are some scratched initials 'WPP' or 'WPD' which you can just see in one of the photos if you look carefully.
This helmet has never been up for sale before, it came from the probate of a cornish mining family in Calstock, and it has been exhibited in mining museums in Liskeard and Truro.
Also included are three 18th century mining tools which were found when a dis-used 'Addit' in Dolceath was opened to allow modern pumping equipment in to alleviate flooding. The tools were on a shelf that had been chipped into the wall of the addit and were found by a man who had worked in three mines in Cornwall during the early 20th century and who died in the 1980's - the tools then passed on to his widow. There are two pickheads, one with a handle and one without, and an axe with handle. Look carefully at the close up photo of the pickhead with handle and you will see years of striations caused by constant water on cast iron.

A pretty little painted pine washstand, perfect for that small bathroom:-
Possibly Dutch 19th century, made of pine and painted in Farrow & Ball's 'Berrington Blue', distressed and waxed for that rustic country look.
Standing on four nicely turned legs, the bottom shelf is made of two planks and has a single drawer with two pine knobs. The top is also made of two planks and the sides are shapely with the side boards turning outwards slightly.

A lovely old solicitors cupboard, made of pine with quirky drawers and cupboards and rustic appearance:-
This 19th century cupboard came from a Solicitors office in Truro. It seperates into two pieces consisting of:-
The top cupboard has two double panelled doors opening into a pidgeon-holed interior of 21 sections ~ ideal for storing all those socks and smalls. Both doors have small pine knobs and one has a key lock (no key available). The top of the cupboard is finished with a nicely swelled frieze.
The base consists of four half width drawers over three full width drawers. Each drawer has two pine knobs and is neatly dovetail jointed to the front and rear. Some of the drawers are partitioned inside (see photos). The drawers are recessed in slightly, as originally there would have been lockable cupboard doors in front of the drawers.
The whole piece has been painted in Farrow & Ball's 'Shaded White' with the cupboard door panels, the top of the base piece and the drawer knobs in Farrow & Ball's 'Hay', distressed and waxed giving a rustic, country appearance.
