Shiva Lingams: Lore and Tradition
2:56 PM PST, 12/29/2010
Shiva Lingam stones are only found one place in the world, high in the mountains of Mandhata in India, at the banks of the Narmada River, one of the seven sacred holy places of pilgrimage in India. Each Lingam contains sacred markings symbolic of the marks on Lord Shiva's forehead. The Lingams are handled in accordance with ancient Vedic tradition, and are thus highly blessed. The stones are formed by a mineral called cryptocrystalline quartz which is said in the lore to have been implanted in the riverbed by a meteorite millions of years ago. Shiva Lingams are said to contain the loftiest vibrations of all stones on Earth. They emanate a vibration that will purify your temple or home. It is said according to Vedic knowledge that the Lingam represents the inner being, the energy shape of the soul, or the essence of a human being. The upright egg shape represents the divine masculine energy, the power of Shiva (dynamic expression/knowledge), and the markings, called the yoni, represent the divine female energy (wisdom/intuition). Possessing one of these stones is said to bring harmony and balance because of the mixture of the male/female energy, Yin-Yang, dark/light, the positive/negative energies unified - the wholeness of the soul, which is neither male nor female. Shiva Lingams have been allowed to come out of India at this time because of the desperate state of the planet. The Lingams are energy generators of balance, of Soul consciousness, and healing. They are impregnated with spiritual light resonating with the 5th Chakra, or Heart Chakra; thus their particular job in healing the planet is through opening the heart, healing the pain in the heart which obscures the harmony and knowingness of the soul residing within. The release of energy where there was once blockage, and very often, activation of the Heart Chakra with the accompanying experiences of self-acceptance , self worth, happiness, contentment, unconditional Love, compassion, etc. Some crowds are familiar with the Shiva Lingam because it is the stone that Indiana Jones claimed in the Temple of Doom. Speaking from experience at shows, I have never seen people so attracted to something for reasons they do not understand. It is said that by destiny everyone has their own Lingam. It is as if the signature of one’s soul has been alchemically embedded in the stone down the millennia of it’s making in the embrace of Mother Earth, and finally in the hands of an esoteric craftsperson. The Lingam draws out Soul qualities. As a result, it is a potent force for healing and meditation. Currently, the government of India is now completing the last dam on the Narmada River that was halted back in the 1970's due to religious protest. Soon, these beautiful stones will be under a hundred of feet of water and therefore, very difficult to harvest. Already in high demand but scarce in quantity, the value of this stone will only continue to grow over time. We have a wonderful selection of Shiva Lingams available. http://stores.shop.ebay.com/Ancient-Stone-Inspirations_Shiva-Lingams_W0QQ_fsubZ18111757QQ_sidZ12315080QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322 -
Rose Quartz: It's All About Love
1:17 PM PST, 9/7/2008
Rose quartz is opaque to translucent macrocrystalline quartz of pink to rose-red color composed of silicon dioxide. It's index of refraction is 1.54-1.55 and it has a Hexagonal-Rhombohedral; 32 (trigonal-trapezohedral) crystal system. Quartz is the most abundant single mineral on earth. It makes up about 12% of the earth's crust, occurring in a wide variety of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. Rose quartz normally occurs in the cores of large pegmatites as solid masses of rose colored quartz whose individual crystals have poorly formed boundaries. The color of rose quartz is still not completely understood. It has been said to be due to a number of different minor impurities present in the rose quartz including titanium, manganese and even colloidal gold. However, recent studies using micro-analytical methods have discovered that the color of massive rose quartz is actually due to microscopic mineral fibers in the rose quartz. X-ray diffraction tests on these microscopic fibers yielded patterns similar to the mineral dumortierite but slightly different, suggesting the possibility of a totally new and as yet unknown fibrous mineral causing the color in massive rose quartz.
Rose quartz has been used as a gemstone and for other ornamental and religous objects for thousands of years. Historically, it is a symbol of love and beauty, and thus the perfect stone for the month of February. The name quartz comes from the Saxon word querklufterz which meant cross vein ore. The astrological signs of rose quartz are Taurus and Libra.
Rose quartz balances the emotions, thus giving inner peace and harmony, It enhances sensitivity to beauty, art and music. This stone calms aggression and resentment while increasing self-esteem and self-confidence. It enhances one's compassion, patience and forgiveness and enhances your capacity to love others as well as yourself. Rose quartz helps treat depression, assists in weight loss, promotes a clear, soft complexion and prevents wrinkles. Rose quartz aids the proper functioning of the kidneys, adrenals, genitals, liver, lungs, heart, increases fertility and protects against radiation.
Metaphysical and healing lore is for inspiration, folklore, reference, and entertainment purposes only. I would be devastated if someone got hurt or was ill because they read the lore and decided to give up healthcare because of it. See your doctor or other qualified healthcare practitioner about all injuries, illness or other health related issues!

Fluorite
1:13 PM PST, 9/7/2008
The name fluorite comes from the Latin fluere which means “to flow“. This name comes from the fact that fluorite melts easily. Fluorite is the natural crystalline form of calcium fluoride (CaF2). It is a transparent to translucent, glassy mineral. When pure fluorite is crystal clear, however, flourite can show many different colors depending on tiny amounts of other elements taking the place of the calcium in the molecular structure. Sometimes a single crystal may have bands of several colors. Fluorite often forms beautiful cube-shaped crystals. The hardness of fluorite is only 4 on mohs' scale, which means that it can be easily scratched with a knife. For this reason, fluorite is not commonly fashioned into gems, since it is not durable enough to maintain an unblemished polish with normal jewelry use. Fluorite is a popular lapidary material and is often fashioned into spheres, dishes, vases, carvings and other ornamental objects. In the past, Illinois was the largest supplier of Fluorite, world wide. It is still the state stone for Illinois, however, due to the high costs of mining, the mines were closed in 1995.
Fluorite promotes spiritual and psychic wholeness and development, truth, protection, and brings peace. It protects psychically and in the physical realm and can help one meditate and learn to go past the "chatter" that our minds tend to generate when first learning to meditate. It can help get rid of mental blocks and similar mental issues. Physically it helps general health throughout the body's main skeletal and muscular systems. All colors are also good for auric cleansing. Mixed colors bring enhanced protection in the areas enhanced by all combined types. Clear fluorite guards against psychic attack and strengthens consciousness. Blue fluorite has the quality of protecting the emotions and restoring emotional balance. Purple fluorite strengthens mystical insight, psychic awareness, and can open the third eye. Green fluorite is an excellent all purpose healing stone that promotes healing on all levels. It also promotes self-love. The astrological signs of fluorite are Capricorn and Pisces.
