Recently at a Barn Sale in No. County San Diego, I picked up many woodworking tools, planes, fences and one in particular 'tool' that I could not identify at all. I called it an antique rolling pin, but you can see by the pictures it is not a rolling pin.
Inquiries to friends and even buyers who had purchased some of the other vintage woodworking tools led to several 'guesses' but I soon thought to myself, if these experts in antique woodworking tools could not identify it, then who could?
Then, through a series of fun correspondence with a buyer in Italy who was pleased with his item (once it arrived!) I took the liberty to ask him if he knew what this mystery thing was. Immediately Lazzaro responded with "Wood Corkdriver" complete with pictures! It has always amazed me how the eBay community, USA and Worldwide assist each other. Oh I have heard uncomplimentary tales of unhappy transactions, but in my experience, limited as it may be, I am happy to welcome Worldwide buyers. I find them to be very genuine and willing to wait for their item to arrive. In fact I would say that probably 1 out of every 5 sales is an international sale. I recently sold several lots of comic books, and if it hadn't been for Australia, Germany, Great Britain and Brazil...I would have still been stepping over all those comics!
So thank you to eBay buyers and sellers who are willing to reach out and help. That's what life should be about anyway, right!
Until next time, Cindy

Seems like I'm drawn to Pewter these days. I think little pewter animals are so cute. Found two Pewter Ducks and a Roadrunner that are listed or will be soon.
I also have done research on Belleek Irish Pottery China and will be adding that to my auction items. Estate Sales are a good source of China, Pewter and recently I came across some antique tools at a barn sale in No County San Diego. Lots of woodworking planes, saws, tools, moulding planes. These vintage woodworking tools are a work of art by themselves. And if I don't know what it is, I list it with question marks and someone always writes to me and lets me know what it is. Thanks to the eBay community for sharing their wealth of knowledge.

Everyone says "Ya have to BLOG"
Everyone says, "Ya have to 'tweet' or 'face' or 'tube'.
I think "who would want to read what I write and what would/should I write about"?
I tried 'face' and got a lot of snowballs thrown at me at Christmas time, and besides I was busy selling and shopping online. I have been selling on eBay for about 2 years now. I chose the seller name 'pattycyn'. My mother Patty was the original Garage Sale Reuser/Reseller back in the 70's. She had a knack of going to sales, picking up items, bringing them home to clean them, paint them and then would have another garage sale and sell them for a profit! She would purchase costume jewelry, take it apart and redesign it and then sell it for a nice profit. So I chose patty and cyn for me, Cynthia, but you can call me Cindy.
In the beginning, I was selling items from Mom's estate and then from my in-law's Estate. Kept some very special items to pass on, but there were a bunch of sterling silver flatware that didn't match any other sets. I educated myself about the different marks of Sterling, and branched out into learning to identify some China marks, pottery, glass and collectible items that I might come across at estate sales or garage sales. Some Silver Some Gold: Collectible Glass, Brass and more. Treasures to put to good use or just to behold.
I also sell clothing, music, jewelry, household decor items, crystal glasses, all sorts of coffee mugs and just fun things I come across. Not looking to make a living at this, but I call it my fun money. (mainly use it to spoil my grown children and the grandchildren). I even sold the burner elements off my Jenn Air Cooktop!
I don't really collect things for myself, except maybe bubble wrap and boxes!
I got excited about a huge storage tub of comics at a garage sale. I knew nothing about comics, except I used to read them. Mostly Archie and Jughead. I bought them and resold them on eBay. It took way too much time for the research, but I learned about comics and I made a bit of a profit.
Well, for someone who didn't know what to write about, I have probably bored you so I'll end for now and try to write another time.
Until next time, Cindy www.somesilverandsomegold.com
