Most women consider themselves emotional gift givers, opting for one-of-a-kind, personalized presents for the people on their shopping lists, a new survey shows.

According to the survey, which was commissioned by eBay, 42 percent of women see themselves as emotional gifters, planning out their gifts well in advance to ensure they'll get unique, thoughtful presents for the people in their lives. Twenty-one percent of women say they consider themselves practical gift givers, opting to give cash or gift cards so their loved ones can decide what they want. Sixteen percent say they are convenience gifters and do all of their shopping in one store or on one site, and 13 percent say they are last-minute shoppers.

However, regardless of the gift-giving type, the majority of women surveyed say they try to make presents meaningful, and prefer to give a one-of-a-kind presents they think their loved ones will enjoy over the latest "hot items." And 71 percent of women think it's important to personalize their gifts in some way, be it with a hand-written note or by giving their present in person.

The survey also found that most women (60 percent) say holiday shopping makes them happy, even though they have to buy an average of 14 gifts.

What kind of holiday gifter are you?
