eBay wants Delta Air Lines travelers to do a little shopping during their flights to visit friends and family over the Thanksgiving holiday.

In a bid to boost holiday sales on eBay.com, the company announced it will foot the bill for Wi-Fi access on all Delta Air Lines flights equipped with wireless Internet service from Nov. 24 to Nov. 30, typically busy travel days.

Delta currently has 260 aircrafts equipped with Wi-Fi that make more than 1,000 trips a day. In all, about 1 million customers will have access to free in-flight Internet service, courtesy of eBay during the promotion, according to Delta.

"eBay's partnership with Delta Air Lines will showcase to a million-plus holiday travelers the amazing value and unparalleled selection that eBay offers shoppers every day," says Greg Fan, eBay's vice president of marketing. "This year marks the largest integrated holiday-season campaign eBay has created, and we're thrilled to be partnering with Delta to offer power shopping in the sky."

Travelers who use the free Internet service during their flights will be directed to eBay's holiday deals page when they first sign in. Then they'll be free to browse the Web, eBay notes.

eBay and Delta aren't the only companies teaming up to give travelers more Internet access this holiday season. Google announced it will also offer free Internet access in 47 airports through the holidays, and free in-flight Internet on Virgin America flights through Jan. 15.

The airports it will target, which include airports in Boston, Houston and Seattle, see 35 percent of fliers traveling within the U.S. However, the company notes its campaign is intended to raise funds for Engineers Without Borders.
