eBay Germany is testing out a new system that will allow for removal of negative or neutral feedback if both buyer and seller agree to it.
The program is designed to replace eBay's former Mutual Feedback Withdrawal policy, which was dismantled in May, coinciding with the launch of the new feedback system. eBay says it intends to roll out the new system internationally in October.
An announcement on the eBay.de site states the company worked to quickly come up with a way to remove a feedback entry if the buyer later has a change of heart.
Under the pilot system, a seller has 30 days from receipt of the negative or neutral feedback to ask eBay to remove it. Only one request per transaction is allowed, and a seller can only file two requests per month.
When a seller files a request, the buyer receives an e-mail through eBay, and has seven days to respond. The feedback is only removed if the buyer agrees. If the buyer does not agree, or does not respond, the feedback stands.
The pilot feedback withdrawal program is available only to registered users of eBay Germany.
