eBay and Etsy sellers who will offer free shipping on Dec.16 and will have items delivered to their destinations by Christmas Eve can promote their stores on FreeShipping.com if they participate in Free Shipping Day.

For the first time in four years, FreeShippingDay.com is allowing smaller sellers, like those on eBay and Etsy, to participate in the site's Free Shipping Day promotion, which this year falls on Dec. 16, notes Luke Knowles, the founder of FreeShippingDay.com.

In the past, the site only highlighted large retailers like Barnes & Noble that offered free shipping.

Last year, more than 1,700 online sellers participated in Free Shipping Day, generating about $950 million in sales, the company notes. Now eBay and Etsy sellers can get a chunk of that dough by submitting a merchant sign-up form and participating in the one-day promotion.

Once approved, participants will get their logo displayed on FreeShippingDay.com with a link to their store. Participating eBay and Etsy sellers will be displayed on dedicated pages, separate from participating big retailers.

Knowles expects more than 2,000 merchants to participate in this year's Free Shipping Day. As of this writing, more than 90 eBay sellers and 70 Etsy sellers are registered to participate.
